A Story about Brothers...

 

Cafe Leila is a converted warehouse space owned by the Ferreira family. a beautiful garden restaurant, they didn't hesitate to lease the space. Since the grand opening in 2007, Cafe Leila has morphed into a successful Berkeley institution. Serving up more than fresh California cuisine, Cafe Leila has become famous for their artisanal tea drinks and keeping jazz music alive on Friday and Saturday nights. To this day, Art and Mel continue to visit Café Leila to reminisce about the good old days over a delicious meal.Berkeley born brothers Art and Mel Ferreira managed their family's plumbing supply business at 1724 San Pablo for more than 80 years. The brothers retired in 1997 and now spend their time gardening and drooling over cooking shows.   When Art and Mel were approached by restaurateur brothers Sam and Moses who proposed converting the historic building into a restaurant.
